While Americans and Canadians share many similarities in day-to-day life and culture, there are some very marked contrasts that distinguish these two from each other.  To JDM (Japanese Domestic Manufacture) performance car enthusiasts in these countries, the dividing gulf between their shared passion of cars exported from Japan is far, wide, quite painful (to Americans at least) and very real: the 10-year difference in the importation laws for JDM vehicles in the USA (25 years or older) and Canada (15 years old or older).

Having only a restriction of 15 years old in place means that Canadians can import a currently more varied number of JDM cars than
their American cousins do.  To name a few, the Mazda RX-7, Toyota Supra MKIV and Nissan R33/R34's have been on the list for more than half a decade now; while their JDM-enthusiast cousins in the USA will need to wait a couple of years more.

While there is no Canadian government regulation in place for compulsory Pre-Inspection by a third-party authorized agency, the condition of a Used Vehicle from Japan into Canada needs to be above average; as cars with significant rust and corrosion will not be eligible for
registration once applied for it.

Per unit shipment of a vehicle is called RORO (Roll-on, Roll-off).  The vehicle is loaded/offloaded on a shipping vessel running on its own power, side by side with other cars shipped for that port.  This is the easiest and cheapest way for you to ship your JDM vehicle from Japan
to Canada.  Unfortunately, you can only do it for Vancouver, New Westminister, or Halifax ports.
